Have you ever wanted to join a band?

The Cedar Falls Public Library has joined with West Music to offer an exciting opportunity for young players.  “Rock Steady” is a program designed for players and singers age 13 to 18 with at least one year of experience under their belts.  More than just a jam session, “Rock Steady” is a course on how to work with and rehearse with other musicians to form a band.  The band will rehearse for 6 weeks at West Music beginning February 4th and perform at the library on March 16th.  Click here for an application and more information.

Voices of Iowa Project on Display

The Cedar Falls Public Library will host the Grout Museum District’s “Voices of Iowa” video exhibit from January 31 to February 14.  The Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum received a grant from Black Hawk County Gaming Association to develop and circulate the kiosks which will travel to public libraries in a seven county area.  At each stop, stories of local veterans and home front workers may be selected from multiple channels.  The “Hometown Heroes” channel will stream excerpts from the oral history collection of Cedar Falls community members who served in World War II through the current conflict in the Middle East.  Oral history “Farm Stories” will also be featured on another channel.
