Join U.N.I. Professor of History Thomas Connors for a fascinating glimpse at an historical landscape that is rapidly receding from the public’s view.  The program will touch on the current controversy but will also place the removal of historical monuments in a broader context.

The talk will examine how different countries have approached taking down monuments that had become outdated.   We’ll look at British memorials in Ireland, Soviet sculpture in Russia, and the removal of British symbols and Confederate monuments in the United States.

This program is free and was made possible by the Friends of the Cedar Falls Public Library.  A question and answer session with cookies and fruit drinks will follow.  For more information call (319) 268-5543.
