Seed Library Kickoff Event
Saturday April 5
A seed library provides members with free seeds to grow in their gardens, with the understanding that new seeds from the current harvest will be returned to the seed library for use the following year. It is a free and easy way to try new varieties of garden seeds.
The mission of the Cedar Falls Seed Library is to conserve and share heirloom seeds, promote gardens and gardeners, promote biodiversity, and educate for the future.
The seed library will be located in the Cedar Falls Public Library by the downstairs self-checks. The Kickoff event will feature a master gardener in the meeting room at 3:30, and a drawing for "gardening goodies" 4:00. Patrons can sign up for membership with the Seed Library that day, and members will be able to "check out" up to five packages of seeds for free. Other seed and garden-related events will take place at the library throughout the sowing/growing season.
