March yourself to the CFPL for an informal introduction to WW2 divisional patches, rank and collar insignia, regimental crests and related accoutrements.
The program launches with The Big Picture—the Quartermaster Story, a 29 minute documentary from the National Archives which includes the design of uniforms, insignia, and our American flag. Then--Ron McMahon, a member of the American Society of Military Insignia Collectors for more than 40 years, will share his expertise and insights into the field of patch collecting.
View extremely rare and virtually non-existent examples of original insignia worn by members of our armed forces in the Euro-African-Middle-eastern & Asian campaigns. Learn about patch design, construction techniques, reference guides, outlets and sources for purchasing patches, and how to determine whether patches are originals or reproductions.
Also feel free to bring in any insignia you may have for evaluation and appraisal. Join us in the Large Meeting Rm. for some basic training in patch collecting along with some basic refreshments. This program was made possible by Friends of the Cedar Falls Public Library and is free to the public. For more information call (319) 273-8643.
